Paulton slipped down one place in the table to fourth after failing to win at home for the second time in a week in Division One South & West of the Evo-Stik Southern League.
Adam Mahdi gave Rovers a second-half lead, but they were pegged back by Sam Collier's penalty equaliser for Abingdon four minutes from time.
There was little to get excited about during a scrappy first half, although the hosts had one penalty appeal for handball waved away.
Abingdon went close after the break when Aaron Parfitt had a shooting chance, but his effort deflected away off an upright.
Paulton's Ben Lacey was denied by goalkeeper James Foster, but Mahdi finally broke the deadlock on 67 minutes after being set up by Craig Loxton.
However, four minutes from the end, Ollie Price was adjudged to have handled the ball in the Rovers box and Collier converted from 12 yards.
