Sembcorp Bournemouth Water are to dig up the water main they laid just over a year ago to replace faulty joints that could lead to leaks in the future. Sembcorp have already identified and replaced several joints that failed and took the decision to replace every joint along the main to prevent further joint failure.

New Wimborne Water Main To Be Dug Up Again
The same size pipe and jointing method were used in Verwood to replace their main after work was completed on the one in Wimborne, but no problems have so far been encountered. Tests have been carried out on the remaining joints in Wimborne, but the tests where inconclusive. The cost of replacing the joints will be financed by Sembcorp's existing budget. The company have also apologised to residents for any inconvenience caused.
Yes it is an inconvenience to have the main dug up again, especially after all the work that has been carried out in the area over recent months, including Canford Bottom Roundabout, the Square and the proposed work to the damaged Julian's Bridge. However, it's good Sembcorp have recognised the problem and are acting swiftly to rectify the problem and at least the work will be done in one hit and won't drag on for years to come.

Comments
They should have checked the joints before they laid them. How utterly time wasting.
