Overhanging Hedge Cut Thanks To Wimborne Resident's Persistence

A Wimborne resident who relies on her motorised buggy to get around was so incensed at not being able to pass an overgrown hedge at the point where Wimborne Road and Leigh Road meet, she contacted Dorset Highways and asked them to sort out the problem.

Overhanging Hedge Cut Thanks To Wimborne Resident’s Persistence
The pavement on that particular stretch of road is very narrow and the hedge always overhangs it, especially during the summer when there has been quite a bit of growth. It makes negotiating that part of the pavement extremely dangerous, as at some points you are almost forced to walk on the extremely busy road to pass. I know from personal experience trying to wheel my son in his pushchair past the hedge is not an easy task and I've had my clothes snagged a couple of times on the brambles.
So it was good to hear that when Dorset Highways were unable to contact the landowner they agreed to deal with the problem themselves. The hedge was cut back and Dorset Highways promised to send the bill for the work to the landowner. I'm sure he'll be extremely pleased they've saved him a job. Maybe I should send the landowner a bill for two new tee-shirts.
"I'm very grateful to them," said Anita. "But I would urge landowners to be considerate of those who want to use the pavements, particularly mums with pushchairs."

It's about time that hedge was trimmed back.
