Recommended Gypsy And Traveller Site For Wimborne
This decision makes me question whether public consultation actually works, or is just seen as an exercise in PR by the county council, to sweet talk anyone who might wish to object to their plans. Are they actually going to listen to what the public have to say, or have they already made up their mind to go with the sites under consideration? At the very least the fact they are willing to recommend these endorsements before the public consultation period has ended shows their distinct lack of respect for the public's views.
It's not the first time the wishes of local residents have been ignored. The county council pressed ahead with Waitrose even though half of those who wrote to the council about Waitrose objected to it being given permission to go ahead. Even with the Canford Bottom Roundabout plans generating such wholesale opposition, residents and business owners concerns were still ignored and the project went ahead anyway.
Does Dorset County Council think they know better than the people who take the time to express their views to the public consultations, or do they simply not care?
Comments
I agree that Cannon Hill Plantation is listed as 'Green Belt, but that does not seem to matter anymore to the dictators who sit on the council and you can bet your bottom dollare that none of themlive in the vicinty of The Cannon Hill Plantation and are probably envious of those who do live next to what was a pleasant public facility ( before the erection of the mobile 'phone masts) and now the council want to blight it completely!

ReportIt would be very interesting to know if any of the council members live near these proposed gypsy and traveller sites. I suspect they have made sure none of these sites are built anywhere near their own homes.
The other thing that concerns me is that the proposed site at Uddens is green belt land.

ReportOf course the council do not pay any attention to any of the comments or wishes of the opinions of the people who pay their wages via the coucil tax. The only reason they publish the "proposed" plans is because they have to do that by law.
However it is a waste of time because once they have decided what they wish to do, they will ride roughshod over anyone else's opinions.
Can anyone imagine a more unsuitable site for a load of caravans than the Canon Hill Plantation? Have they even been there and looked at it? There are no facilities, the site will soon become a public latrine and one is asked to clean up after their dogs! Did they ever listen to the pubic over:
1) Wairose, 2) the siting of the mobile phone masts on Cannon Hill, 3) The Canford Bottom Roundabout, after wasting concil tax payer's money paintingthe useless white line around the roundabout. It does not seem to make any difference who is voted on to the council. It is liking hitting ones head against a brick wall, They will soon have made a good job of ruining what used to be a lovely peaceful town to live in and I despair!
