Wimborne Folk Festival a success despite a soggy Sunday
The Friday and Saturday were blessed with a good amount of sunshine, and saw people lined up around the Square and along the High Street for the procession. Even Sunday had its positives with ticket sales for Allendale Centre concerts up thanks to the unrelenting rain, and determined people like my family and me who trudged around for an hour or two to see what was open, enduring the warm squelch of waterlogged trainers and soggy feet (no, I don't own any wellies).
In total fifty-two teams of dancers converged on Wimborne from across the country to take part in the festival, even though three teams did call and make their apologies on Sunday because of the weather.
According to official sources even the Sunday market managed to run at half its usual size. Perhaps some of them had given up and packed up when my family arrived at just after 11am, as I only recall seeing about five stalls, all of which were selling food.
Anyway, let's hope the success means next year's Wimborne Folk Festival won't have any trouble with funding from the Council.

Comments
Saturday was heaving thanks to the sun and great fun too. It's a shame Sunday was washed out though.
