Traffic Chaos Ahead For Merley Roundabouts
Between the 29th July and the 11th August 2012 the A349 arm of the junction will be closed so traffic can flow uninterrupted past the town on towards Weymouth, with access to Merley House remaining open from the A31 in both directions. During the closure the Borough of Poole will carry out improvement works to the A349 approach to the roundabout, widening it to accommodate two lanes in each direction. The works will not affect traffic outside of the closures.
With Olympic traffic being given priority on the A31 what is going to happen to local traffic in Wimborne and Merley? Those who travel down the A31 and exit the Merley roundabout to head for Poole will now more than likely have to get off at the Canford Bottom Roundabout and head through Wimborne to get on the A341. So those who live in Wimborne and work in Poole will be subjected to longer queues, but at least they won't have to contend with the school run traffic as well.
Will an alternative route be sign posted to avoid increased traffic in the area over the two-week period?
The upside is it will only be for two weeks.

Very little in the way of "Traffic Chaos" at all. Perhaps your headline could be considered a little inflammatory?

ReportActually it's made the traffic better in the town. There is very little congestion going into Poole now. Can we keep it as it is?

ReportNo Idea, I guess they decided it was easier to shut it on Saturday so locals could get used to it by Monday when they went back to work.

ReportWhy am I not surprised. It'll be interesting to know if all the Olympic traffic is being shuffled past our town if any of our businesses will actually benefit.
