A couple from Wimborne who run a renewable energy company are celebrating achieving 'Buy With Confidence' status issued by Dorset Trading Standards.

Mike and Julie Stephenson run H2Eco from their business in Holton Heath and are delighted to have been recognised for their commitment to excellent customer service. H2 Eco is one of the very few solar energy suppliers to be awarded the 'Buy With Confidence' award from Dorset Trading Standards.

In response to concerns about 'rogue traders', the Buy With Confidence Scheme is now the largest of its kind nationally, giving consumers peace of mind when choosing a business to supply them with goods or services.

Presenting H2Eco with their accreditation Jon Harris, Principal Trading Standards Officer at Dorset Trading Standards commented "The Buy With Confidence scheme helps you find good, honest, local businesses and gives you the reassurance of avoiding cowboy traders. When you are investing in work on your home or business you want to know you are dealing with genuine people. The professionalism at H2 Eco shone out, and I am delighted to welcome them into the scheme."

For company director Mike Stephenson the Buy With Confidence accreditation reinforces his own business ethics. Mike added, "According to reports from the renewable energy sector, forty out of fifty solar energy companies have collapsed since the recent changes to the feed in tariff. This reflects the market and links into the Buy With Confidence accreditation, as we know that a lot of businesses sprung up from nowhere hoping to capitalise on the government funding in a 'get rich quick' scheme."

"For genuine businesses such as H2Eco, a local family run firm, we come at it from a different angle. We are driven by our eco credentials and a genuine passion for helping people become greener and less reliant on energy giants."

Since the middle of August the company has seen a significant rise in customer enquiries with home owners hoping to install before the winter months kick in. More consumers are also looking into other renewable energy options such as solar hot water which benefits from the government's renewable heat incentive; heat pumps which can reduce energy bills by 50%; energy management systems and rainwater harvesting.

Mike said, "Thing have levelled out in the solar industry and whilst you will get paid less from the feed in tariff, the cost of installation has significantly reduced, plus of course energy prices continue to rise steeply. Our customers can safely expect to achieve up to 12.5% return on investment, far better than any bank or building society, plus they will be contributing to reducing the UK's carbon emissions, thus helping to save the planet."
