Wimborne gears up for folk festival weekend.

The three-day Wimborne Folk Festival opens its doors tomorrow for its thirty-first year and the police will be tougher than ever on anti-social behaviour. They are to be given powers to disperse groups of two or more people causing trouble and imposed a curfew on under sixteen's between 9pm and 6am.

But please remember Wimborne Town centre is an alcohol free zone and those caught with alcohol outside of the pubs will have it confiscated. There is plenty of entertainment going on in the numerous pubs so there's no need to break the law. Remember there will be families and young children there during the day so enjoy yourself and be respectful of others at all times. Plea over, normal service will now resume.

The yearly festival, a highlight of the year, will see thousands of people flock to Wimborne to enjoy a variety of entertainment including Morris dancing, concerts, workshops, market stalls and children's entertainment. The children's entertainment will be in its usual place outside the Allendale Centre and for the first time it will spill over into the Olive Branch car park. The market stalls are my favourite, I simply love wandering around the town centre market stalls on a Sunday afternoon, having a good mooch and seeing what interesting things there are to buy.

Have fun people and I'll see you there.
