Last night I attended the launch of this year's Wimborne Food Festival at Merley House, the first time I've ever been to a launch party and I wasn't sure what to expect. So I threw myself in, helped myself to food and drink and mingled with business people, charities, councillors and even Wimborne's Mayor Cllr Robin Cook.

Two thoughts struck me while I munched on the fancy nibbles doing their rounds. The first is that there are a lot of generous people helping to contribute to making Wimborne's fifth food festival a success. The list of sponsors is absolutely huge and I would be here all day if I attempted to list every single one of them. What a fabulous bunch. Special mention has to go to Merley House though, who opened their venue free of charge for the launch. I was even treated to a personal tour on arriving.

The second thought was how many people had it taken to organise such a fantastic festival. I was surprised to learn the whole thing has been organised by one very determined and hard working lady Clare Kavanagh. Fantastic job!

The Wimborne Food Festival takes place this weekend 22nd & 23rd October in and around the centre of Wimborne and entrance is absolutely free. I'll be there, will you?
