Wimborne is open for business is the message the town traders are trying to get across while the £410,000 revamp of the Square goes ahead and how are East Dorset District Council helping with this?

Wimborne Open For Business Posters
East Dorset District Council hasn't taken up chairman of The Chamber of Trade and Commerce Diann March's suggestion of free parking during the revamp, probably because it would have cost them thousands of pounds in revenue if they did. Instead, the council have decided to launch a poster campaign to encourage people to still shop in Wimborne during the changes to the Square.
Surely free car parking would have been the answer? It would have drawn more people to the town centre at a time when town centre businesses really need it. But no, East Dorset District Council in their infinite wisdom have chosen to launch a poster campaign in the very shops effected by the revamp…surely customers put off from going into town by the works would have to come into town to see the posters and be persuaded to continue to come into town to shop…or something?!? I know I don't get that one either.
The money would have been better spent on an advertising campaign in local newspapers, or even leaflets put through doors. Shame they didn't think of that, but then it's not their businesses at risk.

Do you happen to have a copy of the wording for the posters?

Report£100,000 of council tax payers money used to cover free parking in Wimborne or £1000 to cover posters? Which would the average Alderholt / Sixpenny Handley resident think was the best use of their council tax?
