Wimborne's Indian Restaurants

I love a good curry even if it's probably not the right weather for one now. Still, now that Indies has opened in place of what used to be the Pudding & Pye I thought it was about time to do a round up of independent Indian restaurants in the town.

Asiana Indian Restaurant:

Located in Mill Lane Asiana is an elegant restaurant serving good quality food. There are always plenty of waiters on hand to serve you, so there's no hanging around. I had a superb birthday here a couple of years ago and I was absolutely stuffed when I left. I was one happy birthday boy, I can tell you.

Wimborne Tandoori Restaurant:

Not a bad restaurant, but the one I go to least often. The few times I've eaten in here the service hasn't been that great which is a bit of a put off for me. The food is good however, with some nice dishes on the menu and it doesn't hurt your pocket either.

Minster Spice:

In my opinion the best Indian restaurant for miles. The food is simply astounding. The onion bahjis are not your typical large lump of chopped onion deep-fried; they are small, delicately spiced and expertly cooked balls of heaven. The have deals on most nights of the week and I would quite happily recommend this place to anyone.

Now go eat your fill.

Nevillefedthegoat - Well there you go I hadn't realised it had closed down, because I don't go into Bournemouth that much.

I like attentive waiting staff but some go too far; asking if the food is ok before you've tasted it etc. The Tandoori staff manage to be attentive and get you another drink or whatever without hovering excessively. It's really annoying when staff do that. Neville is right - The Rd Fort is also superb. Early reports from Indi's suggest it is very expensive for small portions - not what we're used to in Wimborne! They must be able to seat 100 covers given the size of the old Three Lions pub they're in.

Red Fort isn't a chain, they did open one in Bournemouth, but they closed it.

Nevillefedthegoat - I didn't miss the Red Fort as I was only doing a list of the independents and Red Fort is a chain of Indian restaurants.

Wimbornelad - I like hovering. If I want another beer I don't want to have to wait or work too hard to attract someone's attention. I guess it's just down to personal choice.

You missed the Red Fort, in my eyes the best genuine Indian restaurant in Wimborne. Is Indi's an Indian restaurant too far though, it's massive and probably has the seating capacity of all the existing venues put together. Still, can't wait to give it a try!
