The speeding traffic certainly on the now created ring roads round wimborne must be addressed by the Highways Authority, this is certainly Stone lane and St Margarets Hill where 90% of the daily traffic totally ignore the 30MPH limits as designated by the street lighting standards and the flashing 30MPH signs one is apparently not allowed to install further 30 signs.
It's high time our local and County Councillors put their minds to this problem and tackled the appropriate Authorities before it gets any worse,.
Children walking to Queen Elizabeth School with 40ton lorries carrering along at 50 mph and some private vehicles often up to 70mph, please lets do something before there is an horrific accident.
Whilst on this subject what about the farcical 20MPH in parts Wimborne again almost totally ignored because it wasn't implemented properly in the first place, just a cheap jack compromise I would suggest we make it all 20mph, and as for the proposed paving in the centre of Wimborne this is going to be a disaster for the Shop traders and I am sure will drive many motorists ie; potential customers away from Wimborne, if you decide to park in the Co- Op park or Waitrose you probabluy wont have time to walk back into town for essentials like banking, post office, pharmacy, etc. when you could have done this on your way the the super markets.

I agree with you on the speeding around Wimborne and I think some sort of traffic slowing measure should be introduced by QE school; maybe road humps, or chicanes, or my favorite the speed camera, anything would be better than nothing. When I drive along that stretch of road under the speed limit I always find cars right up behind me, as if they're urging me to go faster - lorries are worse, as they thing they can bully you into going faster simply by roaring up behind you. Yes something does need to be done and soon.

However, I don't agree with you on the Square. I think the loss of car park spaces will encourage most people to park in the town's larger car parks and stay for longer, encouraging them to spend more money.
