Deans Court in Wimborne is the majestic setting for Oscar Wilde’s much-loved comedy The Importance of Being Earnest which runs for three nights from 30th June to 2nd July.
This production is being staged by top local theatre company and multi-award winners Wimborne Drama and includes a gala performance on 30th June in aid of local children’s hospice Julia’s House.
The play tells the story of two friends Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff. Jack is in love with Gwendolen, daughter of the formidable Lady Bracknell, and cousin of his friend Algernon. Algernon is also in love, with Jack’s pretty young ward Cecily. But when both men assume the name of ‘Ernest’ to win the affections of the ladies, the scene is set for hilarious confusion in this comedy of manners, muffins, cucumber sandwiches and handbags.
The grounds open at 6.30pm for picnics. Performances start at 7.30pm. There is free car parking in the grounds and a licensed bar. Please bring your own rugs or low-backed seating.
Tickets cost £10 and are on sale now from Wimborne Tourist Information Centre (01202 886116). Or you can apply by post by downloading a booking form from http://tinyurl.com/3ezpoa4
