A Clean Wimborne

We all want a clean Wimborne so we don’t have to look where we’re walking in case we step in something. Don’t we?

It wasn't me, officer. I is innocent I tell ya.
As a responsible dog owner I always take at least one poop bag out with me when I take the dog for a walk. However, there are rare occasions that even the most diligent dog owner can’t pick up their dog’s poop. I’m talking about the runny sort that has no solid form and therefore can’t be picked up at all. To me that is the only exception.
But on a recent walk around town the other day I saw several piles of dog poop just left on the pavement for some unfortunate soul to eventually walk in. We’ve all done it and it’s not very nice. Wimborne is not normally messy, in fact Wimborne is kept very clean, this could have just been an off day, but why don’t some dog owners clean up after their pets? It’s not hard, it only takes a few seconds and then the places our children are walking will be free of dog poop.
Canon Hill Woods is a minefield of dog poop, and I’m talking the kind from some very large dogs. It’s unnecessary to have to see, to smell, or even to have to walk around. It can be avoided simply by picking it up. Poop maybe biodegradable but that’s not an excuse for being lazy.
So if you’re out walking your dog do us all a favour and clean up after it, or if you see someone leaving poop their dog has just dropped remind them there is a fine for fouling and asked them to pick it up. Thank you!

I agree with you on this one. I put a polite notice in my shop window last week asking dog owners not to allow their dogs to use the shop front as a toilet stop, as every dog that follows needs to do the same. The response has been very good, and it's stopped happening very quickly.
The wooden surround to the shop front is very old and needs alot of restoritive work . Dog urine and me pouring bleach over it isn't helping. But once people take these things into consideration, the majority are very good about it!
Thank God Wimborne isn't as bad as some of the little French towns. Pooeee!
