Wimborne Sports Village; A Good Idea, Or A Waste Of Money?
-
New Sports Village for Wimborne
Several detailed plans were unveiled this week proposing different development ideas for Wimborne and Colehill. The main aim is to create a new sports village for Wimborne to the east of the town in fields behind Leigh Road backing on to the Wimborne bypass. The sports centre would house not only Wimborne Rugby Club, but also Wimborne Football Club, as well as a new country park, community allotments and playing pitches.
Could this be the solution to the argument over Waitrose and the disappearing cricket field, providing the town with a new area of green to be enjoyed by all residents? Or is using the current fields to build on an invasion of our very much loved countryside, which is always under constant danger from development?
Residents of Wimborne and Colehill are urged to go and take a look at the possible plans themselves, with public exhibitions planned throughout East Dorset over the next twelve weeks or so.
Here are some of the places you can view proposed plans:
Friday 15th Oct - Leigh Park Community Centre, Wimborne 2-8pm
Wednesday 20th Oct – St’ Nicholas’ Church Hall, Corfe Mullen 2-8pm
Friday 19th Nov – Allendale House, Wimborne 2-8pm
Monday 6th Dec – Hayeswood First School, Cutlers Place, Colehill 2-8pm

Sounds good to me. Anything that promotes health and well being has got to be a good thing.

ReportNow this sounds like a plan. Yes the loss of fields would be felt, but in return getting a country park and allotments would more than make up for it. Also having all the sporting venues in one place would make it easier for people to access them. Plus it might help keep the kids off the street if they have some place they can go and play football or watch sports. I shall be looking at the plans with great interest.
