Wimborne Flower Festival
For the first time in five years Wimborne Minster will play host to this year’s Wimborne Flower Festival, and thanks to volunteers who have been working hard since January the various floral arrangements will have a backdrop of life size papier mache angels, minstrels, monks, mermaids and even a seagull.
The most ambitious project though will be the floral carpet centred in one of the aisles of the Minster. An amazing two thousand nine hundred flower heads will be used in the carpet to create a picture along the festival’s theme of The Gift Of Music. Two thousand nine hundred flower heads? Not one for the hay fever suffers then. If you do go, please make sure you take a good supply of tissues with you.
The festival takes place over the weekend from Friday the 10th September to Monday the 13th September. The times are Friday & Saturday 9.30-7pm, Sunday 1-6pm, and Monday 9.30-5.30pm. Admission is £2.50 and children go free if accompanied by a parent. Refreshments will be available in the Church House next to the Minster.
It’s worth going just to see the massive floral carpet. Pop in and have a look, take a photo or two and report back here. I’m away this weekend but would love to know what the floral carpet looks like.
