WEST Parley is planning to hold a fete to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and organisers are hoping volunteers will come forward, particularly stall holders and car parkers.
The event takes place on 4th June at the Memorial Hall and recreation ground from noon- 5pm. The opening ceremony will be carried out by local MP, Christopher Chope and all the proceeds will be split between Parley First School's classroom appeal and the old church at All Saints.
Working together to make the occasion a success are the church, the parish council, the Wimborne and Ferndown Lions, Parley First School, Parley Sports Club and the newly formed Parley branch of Rotary.
The arena will provide a programme of events with music, a car parade, sea and air cadets displays, children's games and a presentation by Parley First School. Stalls will surround the arena. There will be table top games for younger children. To one side will be games for older children to demonstrate their target skills kicking, throwing or hitting balls.
Also planned are face painting, balloon artistry, a dog show and a flower show. Luck can be tested with the tombola, lucky draw and prize for the lucky programme. A variety of food will be available – a lunch time BBQ, a cold drinks stall and an ice cream van. Later in the day there will be teas and musical accompaniment in the Memorial Hall.
