Wimborne Ripper suspect film.

Produced by Wimborne Minster Cine and Video club the film traces the life of Montague Druitt, originally from Wimborne, who committed suicide at the age of 31 in 1888, and his relationship with his cousin Emily. In July 1888 Montague’s mother was declared insane and committed to an asylum. In less than a month the famous Whitechapel murders began, blamed on the mysterious character the Ripper who was never caught, concluding a few months later in November 1888, shortly after which Montague’s body was dragged from the river Thames. After his death Emily was convinced that her cousin was the Ripper and went to the authorities to tell them her story.

The film, shot on location in Wimborne and Poole, was written and directed by Ray Joyce and used talented actors from local theatre including Wimborne Drama and Canford School. Sean Ahearne and Lydia Fowler play the young Montague and his cousin Emily, while Stuart Glossop and Tanya Alexander play the adult parts. TV and film veteran Michael Medwin plays Inspector Aberline through whose eyes the film is explored.

The movie will be premiered at Corfe Mullen Village Hall on Friday 22nd of October, with tickets on sale at the door for £4.50.
