Wimborne Man defies the odds in amazing recovery

Matthew Purchase, 22 from Wimborne is living proof that you should never give up. A little over two years ago he was an agriculture student enjoying a gap year which went tragically wrong when he was shot in the back of the head whilst shooting rabbits in New Zealand.
He remained critically ill in intensive care for weeks but his positive attitude and determination have won through and those involved in his care are amazed and delighted at his progress against so many odds..
He has already blown the prediction of life in a wheelchair away and is walking again and feels driven by the fact that he is so lucky to be alive and be given a second chance.
Despite the loss of sight in one eye and only regaining partial sight in the other Matthew has just raised £6,000 for organisations who have aided his recovery by completing a charity walk.
Fragments of the bullet remain in his brain but Matthew is determined to continue with his rehabilitation and progress.
Congratulations Matthew from Wimborne people, you are a true inspiration.

Remarkable. I heard of the incident and it is testament to this young man that he has recovered. What a joy for his family, we can only hope that he recovers much more.
