Almondsbury Town 3 Wimborne Town 2
Almondsbury Town allowed a two-goal lead to slip away before snatching an injury-time winner in Division One South & West of the Zamaretto League.
Visiting Wimborne went close to taking a 33rd minute lead when Ross Lloyd’s header was saved by Lee Matthews.
However, a minute later, Mike Whittington’s low drive went in off the far post to give the home side the lead.
Almondsbury goalkeeper Matthews made several fine saves in the second half as Wimborne came on strong and the hosts took full advantage by making it 2-0 on 72 minutes. Goalkeeper Alan Walker-Harris saved well from Ross Stearn, but the loose ball ran to Dean Griffiths, who blasted the ball home.
However, three minutes later, Wimborne made it 2-1 when a deep cross was headed in by Gareth Barnes.
Four minutes after that, a five-man move created the opening for Barnes to equalise with a well-struck drive.
Deep into injury-time, though, Almondsbury snatched victory when Todd Winter centred from the right and Griffiths converted from close in.
