What has become of the rabbits of Canford Bottom Roundabout?

In the last week the verges of the A31, the Wimborne bypass and Canford Bottom Roundabout itself have had a trim ready for work to commence on the new roundabout ready for 2012. The work has been carried out in the evenings to lessen the disruption to traffic and has often finished as late as midnight. But what about the disruption to local residents?

Where have the Canford Bottom Roundabout bunnies gone?
I could hear the work from several streets away, so I would imagine those living nearer to the roundabout had a worse time of it. I’m sure there’s some law that says they can’t do that work after ten in the evening? Am I right, or are they allowed to go on to midnight? Whatever the case it hasn’t been very pleasant for the last few nights as it’s been difficult to get to sleep before midnight due to the noise.
The other thing I noticed is that they have now cleared the roundabout itself and I haven’t seen any sign of the rabbits. Have they been done for? Did the Highway Agency dress up as ninjas and secretly do away with them in the dead of night? What has become of the rabbits of Canford Bottom Roundabout? Have you seen them?

FamBar: That's interesting to know. Did they give a date, time and place for this? I suspect they will probably let us all know at the last minute so not many of us turn up... cynical of me I know.

ReportI emailed the Highways agency. Their contractor tells me that they will be inviting public comment on proposed plans for the roundabout in early May. This makes no sense. Why clear the roundabout of vegetation and wildlife, and then ask for feedback on what should happen to the roundabout? If people are angry it is probably worth others contacting the Highways Agency. I agree that they will probably ignore us, but at least I feel better for trying!

ReportTheir plans are made and no one is going to stand in their way - better get used to it. Here comes several months of Hell for local residents.

ReportThe bunnies are dead. They did it on the quiet so there weren't any protests.
